This distorted version of the LEGO Globe (21332) was a particularly challenging project for me and especially fun to build. The color combination options were seemingly endless but it was ensuring the globe remained recognizable that gave me strong direction. The main breakthrough came when I remembered how great spiral patterns look on rotating objects and once I saw the black and white oceans spinning hypnotically, Palette Terrae just fell into place.
My favorite little detail is that the 15 colors on the curved globe mount represent both the 15 colors I used for the continents and are a nod to the color wheel which I often find myself using for ideas.
